Spray Tan

At SUMMERGOLD, we care about you & your skin health, which is why we ONLY offer UV-free sunless airbrush tanning (no tanning beds here, folks!).

At your airbrush tan appointment, your airbrush tan artist will work with you to pick a custom solution that works best with your skin tone & desired tan shade. Our airbrush tans are applied by hand to ensure a detailed, gorgeous glow!

Airbrush tans last around 7-10 days & appointments only take around ~20 minutes. Proper preparation (like exfoliating) and after-care is very important for a long-lasting tan, so please read the prep/aftercare instructions and FAQ below.

If you are doing an airbrush tan for an event, we recommend doing your tan appointment 1-3 days before the event. We highly recommend doing a trial tan (at least 2 weeks before) to make sure you have the perfect bronze for your event! We also offer special airbrush tan packages for brides. Handle all other beauty appointments - sugaring/waxing, mani/pedi, lashes, etc.

Avoid using retinol, Dove soap, bar soaps, and mineral oils.

Exfoliate! This is the BEST thing you can do to make your tan last long & fade evenly. Exfoliating mitts are our favorite way to prepare for an airbrush tan (sold in store for $8.99).

Come to your appointment with no products on - skip the makeup, lotion, deodorant, & perfume to prevent creating a barrier on your skin. Avoid shaving the day of your appointment - razor moisture strips can create a barrier.

Wear or bring dark, loose fitting clothing to wear afterwards (sweats & t-shirts are PERFECT!). If rain is in the forecast, bring an umbrella.

IMPORTANT: Your airbrush tan results are highly dependent on how well you take care of your tan. You'll be given a rinse time & full instructions at your appointment, but it's crucial to use spray tan-friendly products & follow instructions carefully.

Avoid sweating, showering, etc. until your tan solution is ready to be rinsed off (you'll be given a rinse time at your appointment).

Gold Rush (Rapid) = Rinse 2-6 hours after appointment - this tan MUST be rinsed after 6 hours to prevent skin from drying.

L.A. Gold = Rinse 8-12 hours after appointment.

The O.G. = Rinse 12-24 hours after appointment.

During your first rinse, take a warm water rinse with NO products to rinse off the cosmetic bronzer - you can use body wash on pits & crevices in the meantime. Once it's been 24 hours after your appointment, you can use body wash as normal. We recommend Norvell Post-Tan Body Wash and sell full & travel sizes at the studio.

After your rinse, moisturize thoroughly with lotion (Hempz is our favorite - also sold in our studio). Apply lotion daily to make your tan look its best!

If you want to extend or touch-up your tan, use our Custom Touch-Up spray around day 3-4!

Avoid Dove soap, mineral oil (like baby oil), rubbing & scrubbing (exfoliating) your skin until you're ready to say goodbye to your tan, around day 7-10.

Please call the studio (219-513-9131) within 48 hours of your appointment if you experience any issues with your airbrush tan so we can help assist you. Because your tan develops after you leave our studio, we rely on our amazing clients for any feedback. Thank you!

  • What services do you offer?
We currently offer custom airbrush tans, organic sugar waxing (in addition to traditional waxing), eyebrow services (waxing, tinting, laminating), eyelash services (tinting, lifting), and red light therapy.
  • Are children allowed in the studio?
No, we ask that you please leave any children under the age of 10 at home due to liability reasons. We are open until 10pm on Thursdays & are also open on Saturdays to help accommodate.
  • Where are you located?
We're located in Munster on 45th St. (1868 45th St. Munster, IN 46321) - right next to Danny Z's & Dante's House of Pizza! We're located within the Pavilion on 45th plaza on the south side of 45th Street.
  • Do you offer any specials?
Yes, we occasionally offer flash sales on services. The best place to find these is on Instagram & Facebook (@summergoldco) or subscribe to our email list! We also offer discounted monthly memberships for airbrush tanning & red light therapy along with bridal packages - check those out on our website or call the studio for more information (219-513-9131).
  • What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours notice for appointment cancellations. Last-minute cancellations or no-shows will be charged 50% of their service as a booking fee. If you are running late, please call the studio ASAP. We cannot guarantee your appointment 10 minutes after your scheduled appointment time, so please plan accordingly.
  • What should I wear during my airbrush tan?
You can wear whatever you're comfortable with! You can go nude during your tan if you don't want lines - men are required to wear bottoms. Some clients wear just undies, some wear a swimsuit or a strapless bra & undies, stickies/nipple covers, or some wear nothing at all. We provide disposable thongs for $1. Just keep in mind that whatever you wear, will not get tanned underneath. If you would like to wear something during your tan, we recommend wearing dark colors to avoid staining from the cosmetic bronzer. IMPORTANT: Make sure to wear or bring dark, loose clothing to your appointment. Wearing tight clothes or a bra afterwards could cause the bronzer from your tan to smudge or leave an unwanted line from the seams.
  • Which airbrush tan should I choose?
The main difference is the time you need to wait before rinsing off the cosmetic bronzer. The Gold Rush (rapid) is our #1 airbrush tan service, and the bronzer must be rinsed off 2-6 hours after your appointment (the solution gets darker by the hour!). The O.G. tan has a wait time of 12-24 hours before your first rinse. The 24k Gold tan is either option (Gold Rush or O.G.), with your added discounted starter kit. This is perfect for first-timers so you're set up for success. If you aren't sure & would like our advice, just book either option and we can always switch it at your appointment!
  • I'm pregnant/breastfeeding. Can I get an airbrush tan?
Airbrush tanning is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy. Once you're 12 weeks along, we would love to airbrush tan you! We recommend speaking with your doctor beforehand to determine what is best for you. You can airbrush while breastfeeding, we just recommend covering up top with a swimsuit top/bra to prevent any tan solution transferring to your baby's skin.
  • How long do your airbrush tans last?
They last about 7-10 days if taken care of properly. To help your tan last as long as possible, make sure to exfoliate the day before your appointment and to apply moisturizer & keep your skin hydrated after your first rinse. We sell custom touch-up sprays (includes your custom color!) that you can purchase in-store for $9.99 if you want to touch up your tan / keep your glow going. The sprays are travel sized and perfect to bring with on vacation!
  • Do your airbrush tans look natural?
Yes, we always customize the tan shade to each client's skin tone to ensure a natural-looking tan. If you've had a bad experience with spray tanning in the past (ex: orange looking) & are nervous, please let us know! Orange hues are typically developed if the DHA % is too high for your skin type. We offer a wide variety of DHA % and color-based solutions, so we can find the perfect shade for you!
  • Are airbrush tans safe for my skin?
Yes! We only use sunless, DHA-based solutions. DHA is an FDA approved ingredient that is derived from plant sources such as sugar beets & sugar cane. If you have any allergy concerns, please let us know so we can provide you with a full ingredient list. We also offer free skin patch tests. However, airbrush tans do not protect your skin from the sun. We recommend using a mineral-based broad spectrum SPF daily.
  • How often can I get an airbrush tan if I want to be tan consistently?
You can airbrush tan as much as you'd like! Keep in mind our airbrush tans last 7-10 days depending on how well you take care of it. We have clients who come in weekly or every other week to keep their tan going all year round, and we now offer discounted monthly memberships - check out our tan membership section for more info.
  • Do you airbrush tan men?
    Absolutely! All bodies are welcome.
  • How far in advance should I get my airbrush tan for an event?
We recommend booking your airbrush tan for 1-2 days before your event. For example, if your event is on Saturday, book your tan for the Thursday or Friday before. Please also keep in mind that it's best to take care of all other beauty services (sugaring, waxing, manis/pedis, facials, lashes, etc.) before your airbrush tan to avoid ruining your tan.
  • Can I get an airbrush tan if I'm under the age of 18?
Yes, but we require a parent or guardian's signature for guests under the age of 18.
  • How long does my hair need to be in order to be sugar waxed?
Hair should be at least 1/4" long (about a grain of rice) for best results.
  • Do you accept walk-ins for sugaring?
We currently are appointment only, but we do accept last minute appointments if our estheticians are available! Please book online or call the studio (219-513-9131) to see if we can accommodate you.
  • Can minors get sugared/waxed?
Yes, but clients under the age of 18 require a parent/guardian's signature before any sugaring/waxing services. Clients must be 16+ for a Brazilian service.
  • What is sugaring?
Sugaring removes hair (an ancient Egyptian technique) using an organic sugar paste made of only three ingredients - water, sugar, & lemon juice. The process is done by a licensed esthetician who applies the sugaring paste, then uses gentle motion to remove the hair in the natural direction of the hair growth.
  • How long does sugaring/waxing last?
Sugaring/waxing results last around 3-5 weeks. Sugaring/waxing will most likely reduce hair growth over time, meaning you'll have less hair to sugar/wax each time a new appointment rolls around!
  • Can I get a Brazilian while menstruating?
Yes you can - menstruating does not affect the sugaring process. However, you may be more sensitive to pain right before & during your period. We require that you use a tampon during a Brazilian sugaring if you're currently on your period for hygenic purposes.
  • Does sugaring hurt?
While it's typical for a little pain for most hair removal, many report sugaring is less painful than waxing. Sugar paste only removes hair & dead skin, causing less trauma to live skin cells. As you sugar regularly, hair growth slows and hair becomes lighter/thinner, resulting in even less pain! If you're nervous about pain, you can take an over the counter pain medication (Tylenol, Advil, etc.) about an hour before your appointment.
  • Can I get sugared/waxed if I take Accutane?
Sugaring/waxing is not recommended if you've taken Accutane in the past 6 months.
  • What are the benefits of red light therapy?
❤️ Increased collagen production ❤️ Reduces appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, cellulite ❤️ Repairs damaged tissue (scars, stretch marks) ❤️ Reduces inflammation ❤️ Reduces joint pain and headaches ❤️ Improves blood circulation ❤️ Improves sleep ❤️ Stimulates hair growth ❤️ Enhance mental wellbeing
  • Do you accept walk-ins for red light therapy?
Yes, we do! However, we highly recommend booking an appointment online (we accept last minute appointments!) so you can make sure you don't have to wait to use the bed.
  • How often should I do red light therapy?
We recommend using the red light therapy bed 2-5 times a week to maximize its benefits for the first 4-12 weeks. After that, maintenance is around 1-2 times/week. We offer an unlimited monthly package (as well as individual sessions) and a free 7 day trial to see if it works with your schedule.
  • Is red light therapy suitable for everyone?
Red light therapy treatment is suitable for all skin types. Please speak with your physician first if you are pregnant, have low blood pressure, suffer from epilepsy, lupus, increased light sensitivity or use photo-sensitizing medications (including tetracycline, doxycycline, digoxin (used for heart irregularities), hydrochlorothiazide, naproxen and some tranquilizers, antidepressants, and steroids). Clients under the age of 18 will require parental/guardian consent.
  • What do I wear during my red light session?
You'll want the skin you wish to be treated to be exposed to the light during your session. Most clients go nude. You're alone in your room during a red light therapy session. We also provide you with protective eyewear at your appointment.
  • Can I do red light therapy with my airbrush tan or sugaring appointment?
Yes! If you also have an airbrush tan appointment, we recommend scheduling red light therapy right before your tan appointment. For sugaring appointments, we recommend scheduling red light therapy for right after your appointment to get the most benefits!
  • Will I get a tan from the red light therapy bed?
No, not at all. You will not get a tan nor does the red light bed expose you to any damaging UV rays.
  • How should I prep for a red light therapy session?
On the day of, avoid exfoliating your skin or irritating your skin with sun exposure. Arrive with clean skin to get the most out of your red light session - moisturizer is okay!
  • Is the bed hot / will I sweat?
Red light heat can been compared to a nice warm 80°F day, so it's not too hot. Our red light therapy bed also has a fan to help keep you cool, so it's unlikely that you'll sweat. We do recommend using the RLT bed before your airbrush tan appointment just in case.
